Motivation Monday 08.22.22

Happy Monday y’all! This weekend was a busy but special weekend for our family. We went down to South Louisiana to celebrate my brothers upcoming wedding with a couple’s shower with his fiancee’s side of the family. My parents and I decided to make it an overnight trip and spent the time before and after the shower exploring some of the small towns around the area, starting with a brunch buffet and ending with a local brewery.

I also got a rarity in the restaurant industry and am enjoying a three day weekend, since I took off on Saturday to be able to attend the shower. After a fun family focused weekend, I am energized and ready for the new work week as we continue with one of the busiest months of the year.

Let’s get this Monday kicked off with another fun weekly motivational quote to continue to help us power through another week of work and just life in general.

“Your talent determines what you can do. Your motivation determines how much you are willing to do. Your attitude determines how well you do it.” —Lou Holtz

When I read this quote, I thought this was such a great life quote in general and will definitely be one of my top favorite quotes to help motivate me through different aspects of life. For example with this blog, I felt like the past few months I’ve been questioning my ability to really succeed at it and find the fun in it again, especially with the focus being heavy on video content with reels and TikTok. However, today my friend and I went out and shot a few looks for the week and even filmed some reels and until then, I forgot how much I loved tapping into my creative energy and creating fun things.

I lost my motivation to work hard on the blog because my attitude towards it was turning more negative than positive. Getting to share what I love with people and creating relationships and bonds with them is such a special thing and I hate how much I’ve lost that perspective in the past few months worrying about what other people will think or the energy and time spent creating video content.

Your attitude towards anything is such a big part of how your day will go. The hardest part of your attitude is not just having a great attitude, it’s maintaining it throughout the day and not letting anything affect it. I’ve heard about it at every job I’ve had. At one job, when my attitude towards it turned more negative, the less I wanted to be there and in turn the less effort I gave it. Attitudes are normally the first thing people notice about anyone because it shows on your face. I learned that the hard way at that job.

Here’s a tip to having a great attitude and maintaining it. Figure out what you can control and what you can’t control. Most things that happen to you in life, you can’t control. You wish you could, but it just unfortunately doesn’t work out that way. What you can control is how you respond to it and how you allow it to affect you.

I could go on and on about this subject, but I don’t want to bore you or sound like I’m giving a lecture. So here’s the main point. Don’t let the negatives in your life affect how well your day is going to go. Find what you love to do and that you’re good at, take time in your day to do it and have the best spirit towards completing it.

Have a great week!
