I can’t believe it’s been just over two months since I had the best time at Disney World with my friend celebrating the 50th anniversary. This trip was five years in the making, deciding we wanted to go specifically in 2022 for the 50th and it did not disappoint. As I begin to roll out all the blog posts around the Disney trip, I wanted to start with a general post over what I packed to help us throughout our trip, especially during our days at the parks.

Backpack/Shoulder Tote Bag – picking this backpack for this trip was the best decision I made. Even though it was a little bigger than most would maybe like, the bag itself was weightless and I never felt like it was too much on my shoulders unless I had my 32 oz water bottle full of water. The inside of my bag was able to hold my refillable resort cup, water bottle, thigh rescue stick, wallet, sunscreen and portable charger. The side pockets were helpful to hold my friends sunscreen and an open pocket to stick either my phone or sunglasses in quickly when getting on a ride. I used the front two zipped pockets to hold my Liquid IV packets and emergen-c. The ability to change from a backpack to a tote was especially useful when getting in and out of a ride quickly because I could just throw it on one should as a tote while getting off the ride.
Portable Charger – this one was highly recommended by a few influencers on the LTK app when researching different options on Amazon. The battery on the charger worked so well that I only had to charge it up once during the entire 10 days of my trip. What I loved the most about this charger is that it has different ports for different types of phones, so it’s universal for a group setting where people have different types of phones.
Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Friction Stick – y’all this thing is a gamechanger! I’m sure you’ve heard a lot of people talking about these deodorants made specifically to prevent chaffing of the thighs, but I decided to try it out on this trip because I knew I would be hot and sweaty from the Florida July heat. I may have done an overkill of applying it, but basically at least every other time I went to the restrooms, I would reapply the deodorant. You probably don’t have to apply it that much, but I wanted to be extra precautious of not chaffing because of the heat. This is the real deal y’all! I may have gotten sick on this trip, but I didn’t get a sunburn and I didn’t have a single scab from chaffing because of this product.
Packing Cubes – I used to be adamant about not using packing cubes to pack for a trip, but after seeing how organized someone made them and how it actually created more space to pack a lot of items, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try it out. I loved using this pack because there were so many options that I had to choose from and they were specific to different categories. The shoe bag amazed me the most because I was able to pack my chacos, a pair of sneakers and my sandals in there perfectly and keep them separated from my clothes. It also made it easy for me to keep track of all my clothes and get items out of my suitcase quickly before officially unpacking at the hotel, instead of having to dig and dump half the suitcase on the bed to try to find what I’m looking for.
Reusable Straws – the unsung hero of the trip that I never even thought to have. My friend has these packed because she prefers to use them compared to plastic or paper straws and it’s helpful for the environment. We ordered a lot of Diet Cokes while at the parks and they would give them to us with either paper straws or no straw at all in large cups and the straws helped us to be able to drink them without spilling everywhere, especially is we were walking while drinking them. I highly suggest getting these straws if your going to Disney or just any vacation in general.
Sneakers (Adidas and Nike) – These were the shoes to wear at the parks. I’ve had my Adidas for years and they are also New York City approved shoes. Being on my feet for a majority of the day and walking 15,000+ steps a day, my feet were never sore when wearing these shoes and I never got any blisters from them. The Nike’s were comfortable but not as much as the Adidas because they do feel lower to the ground and the back heel doesn’t come up as much as the Adidas do. I never had to worry about wearing these shoes as I did with my chacos, which did give me blisters when wearing them all day at Animal Kingdom. For sizing reference – the Adidas I wear 1/2 a size up to a 9 and the Nike’s I wore in my normal 8.5 size, but could also wear them in a 9.
Target athletic shorts (Black and Blue) – These ended being my favorite pair of shorts to wear on the trip and I ended up wearing them multiple times, including the flight back to Dallas. I sized up to a large in these to have a more relaxed fit around the thighs to again prevent chaffing and tightness. The pockets on either side of the shorts were large enough to fit my phone in them when walking around the parks or being on a ride. One of the pockets even had a zipper in it, which helped make sure my phone was secure while being on the coasters and rides.
Abercrombie Curve Love Mid Rise Boyfriend Shorts – These shorts are the best fit for the relaxed fit around the thighs. I had previously had a pair in white denim that I grabbed the most for the past two years, but I wanted to get a pair in the denim wash. The curve love was new to the style this year and I loved these more than the regular boyfriend shorts because of how they fit around the hips and waist. I was more comfortable in these shorts and didn’t have to pull them down as much as I have other pair of shorts. I did size up to a 31 instead of my normal 30 because the reviews did mention that the denim didn’t have as much stretch to them as previous years had.
