I am so excited to finally share this try on haul with y’all! I still can’t believe we managed to squeeze in a trip to the Hill House store in Rockefeller Center the day after the Summer Collection was released. While many of the items sold out quickly (RIP to the chance of getting the Ellie in the Hydrangea Print), I did get a chance to try on a handful of new styles from the Spring Collection and the Summer Collection that are still fully in stock online. I even found a “new to me” style that I couldn’t leave the store without.
This is hand down the biggest collection drop that Hill House has ever done (at least since I started following them in September 2021). They created tons of new styles that will work for more occasions – like weddings, vacation, picnics, etc. I loved the chance to get to see what I call the “flagship” store. Their offices are located in NYC and to be located directly across from Radio City Music Hall is insane as a location. The setup of the store is so cute and fits the vibe of Hill House perfectly with all the :grand-millennial” decor. The staff was so friendly and very helpful pulling out the styles I wanted to try on and checking in to see if I needed a different size in what I was trying on. It was also fun to see them in their Hill House dresses and it seemed like they really loved their jobs.
Without rambling too much, here are the new styles I tried on in store and how it fit on my midsize body. Just a reminder, I am 5’8, 170-180 lbs, normally a size 10-12 (medium/large) and an hour glass shape. My normal hill house dress size with smocking is a medium and without smocking is a large. All the prices and sizing availability is accurate to the time of the publishing of this post.

The Livie Nap Shorts – Blue Shell Mosaic ($95)
Hill House released these shorts with their big spring drop earlier this year and after seeing the shorts in a different pattern a few months ago, I was definitely curious to see how they fit on me. I love wearing shorts in the summer and an effortless style of a smocked/elastic waistband helps make them so comfortable to wear. I tried on my normal smocked size of Medium in these shorts and they fit okay but were definitely tight across the hips. Sizing up to a large allowed there to be more room in the thighs, so my suggestion is to wear your normal non-smocked size in these shorts.
The Blue Shell Mosaic pattern feels like a refresh version of the Blue Mosaic pattern that they had last summer that I love and wear all the time in the Ellie Nap Dress. The Blue Shell Mosaic is also available in The Augustine Top, The Charlie Dress, The Juliana Dress (sharing this one further down), The Akilah Dress, The Ellie Nap Dress, The Linen Paz Skirt and Nap Top, and The Louisa Nap Dress.
P.S. If you want to get the nap shorts but feel like it’s on the pricey end, the shorts are currently 40% off in the Blue Gingham pattern and available in all sizes, making it only $57.

The Matilda Dress – Blue Hydrangea ($175)
This print was the print I knew I had to get my hands on in this collection. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers and this design is gorgeous. The Ellie Nap Dress supposedly sold out in the first 20 minutes of the collection being released, which really gives me the excitement and vibes of how the drops used to be before they either increased their inventory or there started to be more competition with other retailers created dresses similar to the Ellie.
The Matilda was another style that was released in the Spring Collection and it was a style that I was interested in, but wanted to try on in person. All the pictures of people wearing it made it seem like it was very low cut in the top, which is hard for a larger chest body to wear. I tried this on in the Large, because similar to the Daphne it has a small square of smocking in the back, but other than that, there isn’t much stretch in the dress. This empire dress is stunning on. I love the high low look of the bottom of the dress and the entire dress is so flattering and flows so well. This was the dress that I couldn’t leave the store without.
This particular dress is currently sold out, but is available in the following patterns: Red Shell Vine Stripe, Spring Chintz (size XXS-M), Blue Gingham (XXS. XS, L), and Black Crepe (XXS, XS). The Blue Hydrangea dress is available in the following styles: The Artemis Dress, The Charlie Dress (only in size Large), The Alexa Top, The Dottie Nap Dress (sizes M-XXL), The Florence Skirt (S, M, L), The Naia Nap Dress (sizes XXS-M), The Lilou Nap Dress.

The Sabrina Dress – Blue Basketweave Cotton Sateen ($175)
This is another dress that was released in the Spring Collection that I have been seeing all over Instagram with fellow Hill House lovers. This dress was also the dress that my mom heard was being asked about when people were coming into the store while I was trying on all the outfits. The Sabrina is so flattering and I love the button detail down the front of the dress. There is also a bow detail at the top and bottom of the wide band across the waist. I’m wearing the large in this dress, and it fit so well. The only part of the dress that makes me pause is that it is very low cut and while I didn’t feel like I was spilling out of it, it definitely reveals more than some may like. However, if you want, you can add a lace bralette under it to add some coverage.
The Sabrina is also available in the following patterns: Love Boats, Green Vine Trellis (Size S-XXL), Pink Spring Plaid (currently 40% off making it $113.75, sizes XXS, S-XL), Black Cotton (size XXS-XL). The Blue Basketweave Cotton Sateen is also available in the Elizabeth Nap Dress.

The Dottie Nap Dress – White Eyelet ($195)
The white eyelet pattern is a must have staple item for the summer and I’m so gals to see Hill House create on for tons of styles. The Dottie Nap Dress is a new style that was released in the Summer Collection. This is such a fun summer dress with a wide smocked band across the waist. I tried this dress on in the Large because of the top part of this dress. It has a low V-neck with a ruffle trim and the back of the top is completely open. This doesn’t allow a lot of support for the chest area and it also doesn’t have much side support as the triangle shape goes down dramatically on the side. This isn’t the dress for me, because I do prefer more support in the chest.
The Dottie is fully in stock in the White Eyelet pattern and most sizes available in the Blue Hydrangea pattern. The White Eyelet pattern is also available in The Celine Top, The Evelyn Dress, The Lettie Top, The Noemie Skirt (XXS-XL), The Ophelia Dress, The Caroline Nap Dress, The Cosima Nap Dress (XXS-XL), The Paz Skirt, The Ellie Nap Dress (XS-XXL), The Livie Nap Shorts (XS-XL), The Louisa Nap Dress, The Cropped Paz Nap Top.

The Juliana Dress – Sand Basketweave ($175)
This dress was definitely one of my top favorites from this try on for the Summer Collection. The Juliana is very similar to the Ophelia dress, but it doesn’t have the puff sleeves on it. It still has the sweetheart neckline and the triangle waistband to highlight the waist. I also love this sand basketweave color, it’s a fun neutral pattern for any neutral lovers out there. The only part of the dress that I didn’t like that would make me hesitate getting it is that the zipper is in the middle of the smocking on the back and it was difficult to pull it up. I eventually gave up and didn’t want to push it too hard because I was only trying it on in the dressing room and didn’t want to break the zipper or the dress. I tried this dress on in a size Large.
The Juliana dress is also available in the Blue Shell Mosaic pattern (only in XL and XXL). The Sand Basketweave pattern is also available in the Addie Dress.

The Ophelia Dress – Night Bloom ($175)
This was more of a try on for my personal want than for this post. I already have an Ophelia Dress from a drop about a year and a half ago, but I own it in a Medium and was curious to see how the Large fit on me. They did release the Ophelia in two new patterns – Night Bloom (seen above, available in size XS-XXL) and White Eyelet. The large size fit a lot better on me as far as the chest area. It is a dress that is made to be either more revealing in chest or for those that don’t have much in the chest area. However, I did feel that the seam around the bust and the waist fit a lot better in the Large. If you are deciding which size to get, I would size up from the normal nap dress/smocked bodice size you get.
The Ophelia is also available in Pink Stripe Vine (size M-XL), Black Cotton (XS-M), and Navy Poplin (S and L only). The Night Bloom pattern is also available in The Scarlett Top (XS-XL), The Delphine Nap Skirt (XXS-XL), The Elizabeth Nap Dress, the Ellie Nap Dress, The June Nap Top, and The Seraphina Nap Dress (XXS-L).
I hope this was helpful for y’all! I really enjoyed getting a chance to try on the new collection at the store and hope I get the chance to continue doing this for y’all.
