Ultimate Hill House Review + Discount Code

Hill House Home just dropped the line sheet (a list of the collection they’re releasing) this week in preparation for the release of their Summer Collection next Tuesday, May 16. I’ve been wanting to do a blog post detailing all the different styles and patterns that I have and I figured this is the perfect time to create it!

Since I purchased my first Nap Dress in Fall of 2021, I have now accumulated ten dresses from their store which includes six of their dress styles. A lot of these styles are going to returning in new patterns for the Summer Collection,. There is one style that I love that won’t be in the new collection, but Hill House still has a few available (that style is also available in the bridal collection).

For reference in sizing throughout this post, I’m 5’8 170-175 lbs. I normally wear a size 10/12 and in Hill House my true to size is a size Large.

Ellie Nap Dress:

This is the iconic Nap Dress. This is the dress you’re going to think of when you hear or think about Hill House. Created during the time of the pandemic when we were stuck in our homes for an extended period, this dress was created to look and feel cute, while also feeling comfortable for lounging around. The smocked bodice creates the ultimate comfort and stretch for all day wear and the elastic feel is extended into the straps covered with a large ruffle sleeve to elevate the look of the dress. It’s tiered down into a midi length and so the dress hits me right in the middle of my calf. This dress is perfect for all seasons or occasions: dress it up with heels or dress it down with sneakers or sandals. I’ve also paired my dress with denim jackets or layered it with sweaters over it. I’ve seen people put blouses and turtlenecks underneath their Ellie’s to be able to wear pm the cooler days as well.

The Ophelia Dress:

This dress is the one I think about the least in my collection of Hill House dresses. I loved how it looked on the website and when they announced the style last Spring with the Victorian Collection drop. However, this was my first style outside of the Ellie and there was some confusion when ordering. With the V-neck, this dress is more low cut than their standard dresses, which creates a more soft and feminine neck line. It does have ties in the middle so you can tighten or loosen the cut of the neck line as much as you want. You can also use said ties to tie around your neck to bring the neckline up a little. Unfortunately, this dress style is not suited for bustier girls like myself. I would suggest going for your true size (for me that would be the Large) but if you want a more modest neckline, this wouldn’t be the dress for you.

The Daphne Dress:

This style is my favorite non-fully smocked dress. The fit and flare style is so comfortable, but also fun! It has a small bit of smocking on the back of the dress with a zipper on the side. The neckline is so flattering for all chest sizes. The ruffle sleeves are so bouncy and light and there’s a lot of fabric in the skirt for ultimate twirling and movement factor. This dress style will forever be at the top of my list when picking out future dresses to purchase. If you’re wanting a dress that doesn’t have the smocked bodice, I highly suggest this one. I’m wearing my true size Large in the purple gingham dress. When the Daphne was first released, I purchased it in the medium, seen in the white rose pattern dress. It fit a little snug in the chest when I initially received the dress, and when putting it on the other day, I was having trouble getting the zipper up. This is definitely a true to size or size up dress.

The Florence Skirt:

I purchased this skirt in the last drop for a more causal everyday style. I loved the design for this one because it’s from the archives of the NYPL, but this skirt is top tier, too. A wide smocked waist that stays in place and doesn’t move around, this maxi skirt hits directly above my ankle for a full length feel without it dragging on the ground or being too short. The only downside of this skirt for me is that there aren’t any pockets! I feel like if we can get pockets in all the dresses, we can get pockets in the skirt too. I got this skirt in a Medium and it is a little tight in the waist, but I’m okay with it because I don’t want it shifting around when I move. I am very excited that this skirt is coming back in two new patterns for the Summer collection, including the gorgeous new hydrangea print they’re releasing.

The Louise Nap Dress:

Y’all I should’ve gotten this style earlier. This dress is my new obsession when it comes to smocked dresses. Created just like the Ellie, the Louise has more of a curved neckline compared to the square neckline of the Ellie to where you can wear a normal bra with it instead of a strapless bra. The puff sleeve makes it easier to layer with jackets, but also the ability to wear it in the spring time without a jacket. The smocking of this dress also goes down a little further (to where it hits right below the chest for me) and there is a ruffle tier in the bottom of the dress to create a little flare in the end of the dress. I’m wearing a size Medium in this as the bodice has a stretch with the smocking.

The Laura Dress:

I wanted to share this dress because I love it so much, however they aren’t releasing any of the Summer collection in this style. They just released a white lace version of the dress for their bridal collection, but I still wanted to share it with y’all in case they do bring this dress back for future collections. This dress is a button down fit and flare dress that feels like an every day shirt dress with thicker material than the other dresses they offer. The tie belt adds a feel of femininity to the dress, but is also removable if you don’t want to wear it. I’m wearing a size Large in this dress and the fabric has no stretch to it. It fits over my chest very well with only a little tightness in the shoulders if I pull my arms out to the front too much.
