Hey y’all! Finally able to block out enough time to sit down and write out a few blog posts that have been sitting in the drafts including every book review to catch up to April. Similar to November, the holiday season made my free time very limited and most of the time I fell asleep after reading a chapter or barely a page of my book. I did however make sure to read at least one holiday/winter book for the season.
In the month of December, I was focusing a little on completing the alphabet challenge along with a few other reading challenges and so my reading choices for the month reflected that more than what I was in the mood to read. I also started trying out Kindle Unlimited and while I only ended up reading one book through that membership, I was impressed with the choices available through there and can’t wait to continue to use the membership.

Never Fall for Your Fiancee – Virginia Heath
This book cover is giving me all the Pride & Prejudice vibes along with a premises featuring one of my favorite romance tropes, fake-relationship. Hugh is desperate to get his mother off his back for finding a wife and Minerva is desperate to find a way to help take care of her sisters after their father abandoned them. Full of miscommunication and humor, in a classic fake relationship where no one can keep a story the same, there were plenty of moments that had me laughing and of course rooting for the couple. Fans of Bridgerton that also love some humor in their books should definitely check this book out.
I read this book as an e-book through the public library.

The Family – Naomi Krupitsky
My November 2021 Book of the Month pick, I was so excited when Jenna also picked it as a Read with Jenna pick. I’m not sure if it was because it had been a while since I had done a true Historical Fiction novel or because it does deal with a mafia type story. The storyline itself was interesting and I was drawn into the story of the two friends as they grow up and how the mafia intertwines throughout their entire life. However, the ending was a little too much for me and then I didn’t get a complete feel of an ending that wrapped everything up for me.
I read this book as a hardback through the Book of the Month publication.

The Holiday Swap – Maggie Knox
The cutest holiday book of the year, The Holiday Swap had me hooked in with twins swapping lives to help the other out. When Charlie is in the middle of cohosting a TV Show, she has an accident and loses her sense of taste and smell. Cass agrees to swap places with Charlie wanting to escape from her ex for a little while and maybe also take a break from running the family bakery. Trying to keep their swap a secret proves to be hard when they both start falling for guys in the other sister’s town. All the food references was an added bonus, but I was living for the relationships being built between each of the sisters and their guys. I would love to see this book as a fun holiday rom com movie.
I read this book as paperback purchased at Target.

The Tourist Attraction – Sarah Morgenthaler
This was the first book I chose to read through Kindle Unlimited. Checking on it now to link the book and to grab a picture of the cover, it doesn’t look like it’s a part of Kindle Unlimited anymore. Small town romance meets Grumpy/Sunshine trope, Zoey finally gets to chekc out a bucket list item by taking a trip to Alaska with her friend. If there’s on thing Graham hates the most, it’s tourists. This story was chalk full of comedy including a moose who likes to roam around the city. As much as I enjoyed the story line, something about it just fell flat for me. I’m not sure if it was the over the top humor or if it was the writing style, but I don’t want to give up on Sarah Morgenthaler yet and will be reading the next book in the series (books two and three are now available through Kindle Unlimited).
I read this book through an e-book on the kindle app.
