Hey y’all! Happy Thursday. We switched the day we’re closed at the restaurant this week and honestly I’m having the worst time remembering what day of the week it is 😅. I’m so excited to share my first try on with y’all for 2022. I know that we’re now past the halfway point of the second month of the year, but dang has it been busy at work since November really. Things are finally starting to settle down at the restaurant after the holiday season and some changes that started with the new year and I can finally focus more on the blog and brand.
I went to Dallas for the day back in January and finally made my way over to NorthPark Mall and was able to go to four stores to film try ons. Ever since I decided to curate my style to a more classic chic with a feminine mix, I’m enjoying try ons a lot more and don’t feel as overwhelmed. I of course made a stop at Express as I always do because they always have the best affordable options for classic work outfits along with a more feminine style with lace and puff sleeves.
Below is my try on of my favorite winter outfits I found in the store. For reference, I’m wearing my normal size Medium and 30 in tops and bottoms. All prices show the original full price. If they are on sale, I put the sale percentage in parenthesis.

Puff Sleeve Button Sweater Dress – $188
This dress is giving me a mix of Jackie O and Chanel vibes and would look so cute paired with a printed coat and two tones flats similar to the classic Chanel flats.

Lace Puff Sleeve Side Cutout Sheath Dress – $118 (currently 50% off)
I originally thought this dress would be perfect to wear on Valentine’s Day. But since we are now past Valentine’s Day, this dress would also work for a date night. What I liked most about the cut outs in the dress is that it doesn’t squeeze the skin on the sides to cause them to bulge more. It just sits right on top of my sides creating a seamless movement in the form of the dress.
Also comes in a deep red color.

Lace Puff Sleeve Top – $88//High Waisted Super Soft Twill Skinny Pant – $80
This top was the first item I spotted as soon as I walked into the store. I have a weakness for a nice lace top and I love the lace design of this one along with the shade of blue. Normally I’m not super into the puff sleeve for a top, but the puff at the top helps create more movement in the sleeve than it would with a tight lace sleeve.
This top also comes in a blush pink color and classic black.

Floral Print Faux Wrap Front Peplum Top – $64 (currently $49)
I really wanted to like this top because I do love the floral pattern and the spring vibes it gives, but I had two issues with this top. The elastic waist line felt like it cut me off too soon, giving a more cropped feel and the wrap leaves an open space between the bottom of the top and the top of the pants. I personally wouldn’t wear this to work because there wouldn’t be full coverage as I moved around and I would probably spend the entire day pulling the shirt down to cover my waist.
This top comes in multiple colors and patterns

Metallic Smocked Bodice Top – $68 (currently 50% off)//Mid Rise Light Wash Ripped Curvy Skinny Jeans – $88 (currently 40% off)
This top was the item that almost went home with me that day. I love a smocked top, especially with a square neck and this shade of purple is gorgeous. The metallic detailed splattered throughout the top adds another layer to the fabric. End it with a ruffle hem and I’ve found a favorite top. I hope they keep this top around for a while and bring in new colors and patterns.
This top is also available in a shade of pink.
These curve jeans have incredible stretch in them and are so comfy for everyday movement. I also love the raw hem that would work well with flats, sandals and booties for year round wear.

Fuzzy Chenille Mock Neck Sweater – $88 (currently $69.99)
Y’all know I love a good comfy sweater and this sweater hits all the marks. As one who doesn’t like turtlenecks, this mock necks sits perfectly off the neck to create the look of a turtleneck without the tightness of one. The length of the arm hits at the wrist perfectly and the end of the sweater hits right at the top of the jeans. If you want a more oversized look, size up one or two sizes at least.
This sweater comes in four other colors.
